"the family circles, or fairy rings, where new trees sprout up around a central, often fallen, parent tree. It’s a powerful image—life continuing even after the original tree has died, the next generation growing stronger because of what came before." This is so moving, Megan. Thank you for sharing your journey as you also carry the story of the beautiful redwood trees.
I adore trees as well. In fact, as a child who was born in the desert and endured trauma in my early life, I learned to turn to trees for a sense of protection and comfort. Now, I live (with my husband) on the edge of a forest, where I can watch my trees every day, feeling the balance and strength they send out above and below ground.
I find protection and comfort in the trees, too! When I was 8, our family moved to a house in the woods. I also liked to walk in the woods along a creek near our home.
I found solace there. I found God there. When we had a house fire, being displaced not only from the house but the woods was part of the grief. As I age, I find myself longing for a home in the trees again.
What a beautiful metaphor, Megan. Thank you for sharing this!

Thank you so much, Jane. I cannot tell you the hope I feel when I walk among the trees.
